‘Neighbourhood’ – A brand new open-air rooftop marketplace featuring authentic street food and drink is officially opening on Waverley’s iconic rooftop in Edinburgh on Wednesday 8th July. Neighbourhood will take residency in the heart of the city centre throughout the summer months featuring the very best of Edinburgh’s local independent food and drink businesses that the city has to offer.
As Waverley’s rooftop welcomes Edinburgh locals back to the city centre with the launch of Neighbourhood, it is a fantastic opportunity to come and show your support to our local food and drink traders. Neighbourhood and Waverley are together collaborating with some of the very best food and drink businesses throughout the city, giving them a platform to showcase their fantastic offerings. Opening on 8th July, Neighbourhood will open from Wednesday – Sunday, 11-7pm throughout July and August.
The official line-up of local independent businesses at Neighbourhood include:
- El Cartel: Inspired Mexican street food
- Fire & Dough: Artisan wood-fired pizza
- Kebbabar: Gourmet kebabs
- Linton & Co: Specialty coffee & brownies
- Herringbone in collaboration with Innis & Gunn: Cocktails, mocktails, beer & wine
- (This will expand following the launch of Neighbourhood)
Jenny Maniam, Co-Director of Neighbourhood comments ahead of the opening: “We wanted to do something that provided an opportunity for some of our colleagues in the hospitality industries who have been hit hard as well as tapping into the incredible public consciousness that has seen a real swing towards supporting local businesses. We want to look forward, not back, and celebrate the diverse independent food businesses that help define our city in a safe environment. Edinburgh is going to feel very different this summer and we hope to create something locals can truly enjoy in a way they probably won’t ever again.”
