Extravagant and audacious; we take a look at the hottest new Italian restaurant to open in Edinburgh. Situated on Leith Walk, the flamboyantly designed venue comes from a multi-award-winning local brand, renowned for its friendly Italian hospitality, high quality and superb value menus.
Vittoria Group Director Leandro Crolla commented on the journey to Antoinetta:
“We have fought with tram works on Leith Walk for years; nevertheless, there is now light at the end of the tunnel as we say goodbye to La Favorita Restaurant after 17 years, we welcome Antonietta – a loud and bold Italian eatery that serves a ‘new look’ neighbourhood. The pizzeria brand lives on in our takeaway and home delivery businesses under our La Favorita Delivered, which continues to thrive in the city”.
Infused with passion
Seeking to reinvent Italian cuisine in the city, the vibrant space has covers for up to 140 diners. And it’s an impressive sight. Antoinetta reaches out to a younger demographic of fashionable neighbourhood customers, with contrasting and clashing styles spread across two dining rooms. A celebratory space, with fun cuisine and a lively atmosphere, it offers show-stopping menus crafted using locally sourced and authentic Italian ingredients. Here you can order plentiful dishes, such as Beef and Nduja Mafaldine pasta and a popping yolk Pizza with Cacio e Pepe sauce, Fior di Latte and Pancetta strips. And pair your food with a Limoncello and Pink Gin slushy, or a glass of organic wine.
Honouring La Famiglia
Aesthetics are key also. Food arrives on hand-painted plates from Amalfi. And Studio So, an Edinburgh-based commercial interior design firm, was chosen to create the interior concept for the new eatery. Michelle Ridley, the studio’s director spoke of the experience:
“Antonietta’s creative concept was born directly from ‘La Famiglia’. The strong family-orientated Italian culture and the deep bonds of family members. We want to stay true to the group’s traditional family roots and warm Italian hospitality while celebrating the much-loved Italian extroverted, passionate, and bold personality.”
Changes within the Vittoria Group
It’s not the only aspect of the Vittoria Group’s impressive portfolio to herald change. Their pizza delivery brand La Favorita Delivery is undergoing changes too, with an updated wallet-friendly menu. This comes from the brand’s ongoing research and development into customers’ needs and the future of food. The takeaway site on Leith Walk (beside Antonietta) has also received an internal facelift, with a contemporary look to match the new branding and menus. Meantime, La Favorita Delivered continues to operate seven days a week in Edinburgh Central.
