Scotsman Picturehouse

A relatively new addition to the Edinburgh cinema scene, is the Scotsman Picturehouse a boutique, 48 seat Picturehouse at The Scotsman hotel. The cinema features features ornate Edwardian cornice-work, wood panelling and luxurious bespoke red leather and velvet armchairs and sofas, each softly lit by table lamps. For a selection of screenings, special film packages have been created which include a meal in the Grand Cafe – once the home of the Advertising & Notices Dept. of the Scotsman Newspaper and now a stunning restaurant specialising in Scottish and seasonal produce. They include ‘Brunch and a Blockbuster’, ‘Afternoon Tea and a Matinee’ and dinner followed by a movie.

Dominion Cinema 

The Dominion Cinema is an independent cinema located in Morningside. It was opened on 31 January 1938 and designed by architect Thomas Bowhill Gibson in an Art Deco style. The cinema shows a range of films from just out box office hits to classics and you can enhance your cinema experience with their “first class” experience where you can order from the bar and have your drinks and food delivered to your reclining sofa, so sit back relax and enjoy the film.

Cameo Picture House

Originally opened as the King’s Cinema on 8 January 1914, The Cameo is one of the oldest cinemas in Scotland. Originally a single screen cinema until thew 80’s where two extra screens were added and restored to its full Edwardian splendour. Enjoy a drink before a show in their Cameo bar which serves a range of drinks and snacks then head to the cinema to watch a range of new releases and art house films.
