With a heritage dating as far back as the 1890’s it’s no wonder this family named ice-cream makes our best of list. When Luca Scappaticcio left Italy, and arrived in Scotland he brought with him the knowledge and fine art of making ice-cream to perfection and his family has continued to do so ever since. With a classic range of flavours and a couple of sorbets in there for good measure it’s easy to see why eager customers are willing to queue in line for their creamy fix.

Soderberg – Stockbridge

Perhaps not an obvious choice but this Swedish cafe serves a small selection of Swedish food made to classic recipes all of which are high quality, extremely delicious and their ice-creams are no exception. There is a relatively small selection of surprising flavours but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. And if you really need to cleanse the palate their sorbets seriously do the job.
