The words Festival and Edinburgh are synonymous during the month of August and whilst you might not be relishing the thought of the visitor-packed streets, we might just have the perfect antidote! Escape the Old Town crowds and get yourself down to vibrant Leith for Leith Chill Fest, a relaxed alternative to the frenetic fringe but still with all the fun!
Launching August 2nd, Leith Chill Fest promises to truly be a celebration of the areas thriving bar scene. Bringing together some of the best bars and mixologists in EH6, the festival will run from August 2nd until September 2nd and offer guests the chance to sample a colourful array of cocktails and tipples that capture the true flavor of Leith, for just £5 each!
Local favourites getting involved include Toast, Papillion, The Roseleaf, The Lioness of Leith and Finn & Bear. Working together with Leith Gin, the bars have brought together a really exciting programme for festival-goers. From Boda’s Leith Aviation Club to Malmaison’s Leith’s a Peach, there will be a creative concoction for all tastes.
To get involved simply purchase your Chill Fest wristband from leithchillfest.com, hang on to it throughout the festival month, show to a bartender of one of the participating bars and receive your exclusive signature cocktails for just £5. You can use the wristband as little or as often as you like, although you will definitely want to sample all sixteen cocktails if you can!
Can it get better? It does. Sponsored by Leith Gin and organised by the teams behind Malmaison on The Shore and the Boda Bar Group, proceeds from Leith Chill Fest wristbands will be donated to two local charities who support wellbeing for Leith residents; Projekt 42 and Citadel Youth. Projekt 42 is a non-profit gum and wellness centre in the Newkirkgate Shopping Centre that focuses on strengthening the connection between mental health and physical fitness. Citadel Youth Centre on Commercial Street provides the areas young people with learning, leisure, friendship and support services. Not only will you be having fun but you will be giving back to the community whilst doing so!
